The Justice Team

St. Timothy's has been active with the AMOS Project at the clergy level for several years. The AMOS Project is a network of congregations organizing and mobilizing with the most vulnerable in our city. In 2017, St. Timothy's formed an AMOS Justice Team to support the efforts of this important project and to further our commitment to follow Jesus into the neighborhood.

But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do,
what God is looking for in men and women.
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously—
    take God seriously.
— Micah 6:8 from The Message

The Justice Team seeks to identify and address pervasive injustices in our communal life. Although this covers a broad range of issues, we will keep an up-to-date list here of what our current focus is. Should you see one for which you are particularly passionate, feel free to contact Judy Gudelsky to see how you can participate.

You are not obligated to complete the work
but neither are you free to abandon it.
— The Talmud

In the coming months we hope to focus on Senior Services, Preschool Education, Voter Registration, and Sentencing Reform. And we remain attentive to the cries of those who are affected by the Heroin Epidemic in our region. If you didn't catch it, please take some time to read this article, Seven Days of Heroin, from the Sunday, September 10, Cincinnati Enquirer

All the while we remain listening, yearning to hear what the Spirit is saying to God's people. As we continue in our Exodus journey, we trust God to help us fulfill our Baptismal Covenant to strive for justice and peace among all people, and to respect the dignity of every human being. Please pray for the work of this team and join us if you feel this work ignites, your soul to action.
