At the February 12 Annual Meeting, we will elect a Senior and Junior Warden, four members to Vestry, and four delegates to serve at next year’s Diocesan Convention as well as two alternate Convention delegates. The Vestry Nominees are listed below with a brief bio and a photo. Canonically, we are required to nominate at least five members to run for four Vestry positions. As of the time of this announcement, other members put forward had declined to run. If we have no further nominations prior to the meeting, and no one is nominated from the floor, we will elect the existing slate by acclamation.
Both Bob Bergholz, our Senior Warden, and Erick Harback, our Junior Warden, are running for a second one-year term.
Steven is Director of Products at Macmillan Learning. He is responsible for managing a product and product marketing team that develops and markets educational software for higher education. At St. Timothy's, Steven has volunteered with Interfaith Hospitality Network. He has also coached youth basketball and soccer and routinely volunteers in support of the athletic and technology programs at his children's schools.
As a relatively new member of St. Timothy's and the Episcopal Church, Steven brings a fresh perspective to the church. He has experience building teams and managing resources. Steven is a middle-child and feels this has helped him develop the ability to work with others to find common ground and make progress towards a goal. Although these skills make Steven especially qualified to define and execute long-term visions, he is also just as happy (and skilled) to help clean up after parish events!
Steven has a degree in English literature and creative writing. He especially likes Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky as he is drawn to the philosophical and religious themes in Dostoyevsky's writings. He listens to Ryan Adams, Josh Ritter, the Lumineers and David Bowie. Steven is married to Erin Harper-Ray and they have three children, Marisa Ray (16), Ethan Ray (13), and Jonah Harper-Ray (10 months).
Michelle and her husband, Bob, usually attend the 11:15 am worship service where Michelle serves as a reader, healing team member, and oblation bearer. She has also hosted young adult game nights and volunteered with Toys for Tots. Michelle is a Supply Chain Manager at Procter and Gamble. She is an organized individual who would bring to Vestry her corporate business experience as a leader as well as a team player and her perspective as a young adult. Michelle is a Disney fan who also enjoys reading, running, floral arranging, and home decorating.
As Senior Director of Transformation at Health Carousel, Neil's responsibilities include planning, organizing, and leading transformational projects and programs. He has been an active member at Knox Presbyterian Church in Hyde Park and at Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago. While living in Chicago, Neil was President of the
Associate's Board and a member of the Finance Committee of Thresholds, a $70M non-profit that provides healthcare, housing, and hope for thousands of persons with mental illnesses in Illinois each year. If elected to serve, he looks forward to sharing his non-profit governance experience to help develop clear vision, mission, and strategy for the church going forward. Neil likes cooking, boating, Classic Rock music in the morning, and spending time with his wife Jennifer and son Alex (9 months old).
Caryn and her husband Mike usually attend the 9:00 am worship service with their daughters Ellie (16), Abby (8), and Becca (8). As a Financial System Analyst, she has great organizational and planning skills which she would bring to Vestry with the hopes of helping the church balance multiple priorities.
Caryn has volunteered on Sunday mornings with St. Tim's Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program in addition to Girl Scouts and as a tutor at Riverview Academy. She enjoys needlework, reading and cheering on her girls at swim meets.
